Academic & Examinations Board

The A&E Board of the 1939 Art Academy was established to oversee the Academy’s academic and examination matters, including the development, maintenance and enhancement of the quality of 1939 Academy’s academic & examination procedures, and contribution to the development of a quality culture that promotes student learning.

Academic Board

The Academy’s Academic Board will oversee the Academy’s academic matters in order to provide consistent and quality courses for students/trainees.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop systems and practices that ensure academic quality and rigor
    1. Ensure the content and duration of course/module/topic, as well as entry and graduation requirements, are appropriate
    2. Approve the deployment of teachers based on the requirements stipulated by the Council of Private Education (CPE)
  2. Approve proposals for the development of courses and review courses
    1. Initiate, consider and approve plans covering all aspects of teaching and learning programmes
  3. Encourage innovation in teaching & learning, and related staff development
  4. Facilitate the Academy to implement and comply with policies and procedures developed
  5. Implement and monitor mechanisms for ensuring the maintenance of the quality of teaching and learning
  6. Review academic policies and procedures at least once a year

Examinations Board

The Academy’s Examinations Board will be responsible for the development and facilitation of examination ad assessment procedures so as to ensure provision of a proper and well-equipped environment conducive for students/trainees to carry out theoretical and practical assessments and examinations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Security of examination and answer scripts
  2. Proper conduct of examinations and assessments
  3. Define clear and specific duties and responsibilities of invigilators and markers
  4. Moderation of examination and assessment grades
  5. Handle appeals from students with regards to examination or assessment matters
